Falck Renewables Wind Ltd
Falck Renewables Wind Limited is a wind energy subsidiary of the Falck Group, an Italian company with headquarters in Milan.
Falck produce wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy, and waste-to-energy, taking their place among the biggest “pure players” in the European renewables energies sector.
Falck approached Energy4All at the beginning of 2003 to explore the idea of offering partial ownership of their Wind Farms in the north of Scotland. This led to the signing of the Falck Framework Agreement in February 2005 covering a range of projects. The first project launched by Energy4All under the terms of this agreement was at Boyndie near Banff in Aberdeenshire. This co-operative was successfully launched in summer 2006, raising its target share capital within the 3 month launch period and attracting over 700 members, predominantly from the local community. The Isle of Skye, Great Glen and Kilbraur Co-ops were launched shortly after, all successfully.
Spirit of Lanarkshire is therefore the fifth co-operative of this type to be launched. It is somewhat different in that it will take Stakes in two Projects, which are geographically close. The first is Nutberry and the second West Browncastle. Nutberry and West Browncastle offer another opportunity for Energy4All to achieve its mission.
