Spirit of Lanarkshire Wind Energy Co-operative is an exciting opportunity for local people to own a genuine stake in two constructed commercial wind farms. Nutberry near Coalburn and West Browncastle near Strathaven (see map) have been built by renowned developer Falck Renewables who have offered co-operatives on all their Scottish Wind farms through a partnership with Energy4All.
Spirit of Lanarkshire ran the first tranche of a public share offer to raise £1 million to purchase its stake in Nutberry. The offer closed on 20th September 2013 having raised the full amount. The second tranche offer was re-opened on 21st September to raise a further £1.7 million to purchase its stake in West Browncastle. The offer finally closed on 21st March 2014 and was fully subscribed.
